Lumberkings to Host 25th Annual
Prince George, B.C. - With the longer days upon us and the warming weather that has arrived so has the Native Hockey Season. The Prince George Lumber Kings Sports Club will be hosting the 22nd Annual All-Native Hockey Tournament at the Kin Centres on the weekend of April 9th – 11th, 2010.
The tournament has seen some great hockey players that have played such as Gino Odjick, Theoron Fluery, John Chabot, and Alfie Michaud who have all played in the NHL and even had Ted Nolan coached the Redskins a few seasons ago. The Lumber Kings have moved into the Old-timers category but have some of their younger players still playing in the “A” Divison for the Big Guy Lake Mohawks who have already participated and won two tournaments in past seasons.
The tournament will have room for 38 teams and will have four divisions that will consist of an Old-timer’s, “A”, “Staus/Treaty” and “C” divisions, teams will be traveling from all over Western Canada and will be playing for $20,000.00 in prize money. A Woman's Division has being added this year!
The tournament gives people a chance to visit friends that they have not seen in years and has some great rivalries on the ice. Prince George opens its arms for all the teams and fans that travel to the event and there will also be a dance on Saturday April 14th that will feature comedian Don Burnstick and Just the Boyz from Saskatchewan providing music for the evening.
